
Kip Benham
Sergeant
Sergeant Kip Benham joined Indian River Shores Public Safety Department in 2006 as a triple certified firefighter, paramedic, and law enforcement officer. He began his firefighting career in 1988 with Rockledge Fire Department before transitioning to Palm Bay Fire Department in 1989 and Orlando Fire Department in 1998. Throughout the entirety of his career, Sergeant Benham has obtained numerous certifications in specialized courses, such as hazardous materials and high angle, confined space, and rope rescues.
Kip previously served as Detective Sergeant for Indian River Shores Public Safety Department for four years before taking on responsibility as a shift sergeant in 2015, where he manages a six man shift in 24 hour increments. He has made significant contributions to the Department by creating the S.W.A.T. paramedic team and configuring the welfare check program still in use today. Sergeant Benham has previously attended the Southern Police Institute's Commander Development Course in 2018. He is currently shift Sergeant over "A" shift.
